EDITORS NOTE: DAN RUBIN, RON TARVER, 8-11-10, 118034 Talk about your handyman’s special: A crumbling relic in Cheltenham is headed for sheriff’s sale this month. Nearly 6,000 square feet, built in four stages on almost 8 acres, it’s earliest stone center dates to 1694 on land sold by William Penn to a venerable Quaker and named Everard Bolton. Current owner of the place once called Heidelberg is a bankrupt 89-year-old woman who lives in an Iowa nursing home. Her family left the place to crumble 20+ year ago. We tour the wreck with a couple of local history buffs who fell for the place. And we talk with a man who remembers fondly when it was grand and his grandma’s. Reporter is Rubin, Dan. All names are cq.

What a lovely place. So unbelievable how it is still standing! I pray for your efforts to save it, and possibly restore it. Just think, that land is untouched and very precious.
    Best of Luck!
